What's actually in it
01
Most important
Standing Headroom β€” No Crouching to Wash Your Hair
The most common complaint about cheap shower tents is that they're too short. 210cm+ internal height means a full standing shower for most adults. Arms up, head back, hair properly rinsed. The experience is the point β€” if you have to crouch the whole time you'll stop using it by trip two.
02
Drainage
Mesh Perimeter Drain Floor β€” Feet Stay Dry
Water drains through the mesh perimeter rather than pooling under your feet. Standing in a puddle of your own shower water is the #2 complaint across every shower tent review. The mesh floor solves it β€” water out, feet on the solid centre section. Choose flat ground with drainage and it works in any conditions.
03
Any shower system
Hose Access Port + Overhead Hook β€” Connects to Everything
The rear hose port routes your shower hose in from outside β€” clean connection, no gap in the wall. The internal overhead hook takes a 5–10L solar shower bag directly. Works with solar bags, 12V pump kits, gravity systems, or your vehicle's external shower. No proprietary fittings, no compatibility issues.
04
Ventilation
Mesh Roof Vent β€” Steam Out, Privacy In
Hot shower in a sealed tent = steam buildup = fogged up, claustrophobic, mildew. The mesh roof vent lets steam escape without sacrificing privacy. The walls remain fully opaque. Side mesh windows add cross-ventilation for hot weather use.
05
Storage
Internal Pockets + Towel Hooks β€” Gear Within Reach
Internal mesh pockets hold soap, shampoo, razor β€” everything you need without bending down to find it in a bag on the floor. Towel hook keeps it dry and within reach. Dry clothes pocket on the outside means you're not reaching a wet hand into your clean gear.
06
Privacy
Fully Opaque Walls β€” Actual Privacy, Not Silhouette Privacy
Cheap shower tents use thin polyester that shows a clear silhouette in daylight. This one uses opaque fabric throughout. Full privacy in daylight. The zip-up door seals completely with no gaps. Use it at a crowded campsite, a remote creek crossing, or a beach carpark without an audience.
Wind β€” stake it every time

A shower tent is a large fabric sail. In any wind above a light breeze, stake every corner and run the included guy ropes. Takes 90 seconds. Saves you from chasing your tent across the campsite mid-shower. In soft sand, use screw pegs β€” standard pegs pull out. Never leave it up unattended in variable conditions.

What you can use it for
🚿
Camp Shower
Connect a solar shower bag, 12V pump or gravity system via the hose port. Private hot shower at any campsite β€” remote or crowded.
🚽
Portable Toilet
Fits any standard camping toilet with room to spare. Zip-up door, fully opaque β€” complete privacy away from camp.
πŸ‘•
Change Room
Post-surf, post-swim, remote beach. Change without balancing on one foot behind a car door. Standing room, towel hook, dry clothes pocket outside.
πŸ•
Dog Wash
After a creek crossing or beach run. Contain the spray, rinse them off, dry before they're back in the cab. Drain floor keeps the mess contained.

Setup β€” What's Involved
1
Pick your spot β€” flat ground, good drainage
Avoid low spots where water pools. Slight downhill slope helps drain water away from the base. Orient the door downwind so it doesn't flap open mid-shower.
2
Open and stake β€” 60 seconds
Unfold the tent, extend the frame, stake all four corners. In any wind at all β€” run all four guy ropes too. A shower tent is a sail. Staked takes 90 seconds total and means you're not chasing it across camp.
3
Connect your shower system
Solar bag: hang on the internal hook. 12V pump or external shower: feed hose through the rear port. Close the port around the hose for a clean seal. No adaptor needed for standard fittings.
4
Pack down β€” rinse, dry, fold
After use, leave the door open to air out before packing. Store dry β€” mildew is the only real enemy of a shower tent. Pack away in the carry bag, back in the rig, done.

Questions We Actually Get
Does a shower system come with it?
No β€” the tent works with whatever system you already have or plan to add. Solar shower bag, 12V pump kit, gravity system, vehicle external shower β€” all compatible via the rear hose port. If you need a shower system, a 10–20L solar bag is the simplest starting point and costs $20–40.
Can I actually stand up in it?
Yes β€” 210cm+ internal height. Most Australian adults can stand upright, raise their arms, and wash hair without crouching. This is the #1 spec to check on any shower tent. Anything under 200cm gets complaints.
Does water pool inside?
Not if you use the floor correctly. The mesh perimeter drain lets water exit around the edges. Place the tent on flat or slightly sloped ground with drainage. Avoid setting up in a depression where water collects. The solid centre section of the floor keeps your feet out of the drain zone.
How do I stop it blowing over?
Stake every corner, every time. In any wind β€” even what feels like a light breeze β€” run the guy ropes too. A shower tent presents the same wind profile as a small sail. Stakes alone hold in still conditions. Stakes + guy ropes hold in real wind. Don't leave it up unattended without both.
Will it get mouldy?
Only if you store it wet. After every use, leave it open to air dry before packing. Even 20 minutes open in the sun is enough. Never pack it away damp and leave it in the bag for a week. The mesh roof vent and side windows help it dry quickly.
Does it work as a toilet tent too?
Yes β€” fits any standard camping portable toilet. The drain floor isn't needed for toilet use so lay a mat over it if preferred. Zip-up door seals fully. Most touring couples use it for both shower and toilet over a multi-week trip.
